Per new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a two-decade sentence for sex-trafficking crimes, is allegedly readying a clemency request for review by the Trump administration.

Preferential Handling Claimed at Correctional Facility

House Democrats on the House judiciary committee announced that a source provided information indicating the inmate is preparing the clemency petition. They also stated she has been given preferential conditions at the minimum-security facility in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House judiciary committee, declared in a news release that the facility's chief was “helping” the convict with copying, printing, and sending documents to aid her effort for clemency.

The exact content of the “commutation application” remain unclear, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

The representative claims that, per the insider, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are hand-delivered to her living area, and the warden has “personally arranged” exclusive visits for her and her guests.

These meetings reportedly involve a “special cordoned-off area” for attendees and a variety of food and drinks for her guests.

Maxwell’s visitors were also allowed to carry electronic devices, which Raskin described as an “unprecedented action” given the potential danger and potential for unsupervised contact.

Reportedly on one occasion, when phone lines went down for other prisoners, Maxwell was given specific instructions about who she should tell her contacts to contact and how personnel would connect the communication to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The source also allegedly told congressional members that when the convict wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she reportedly employed the official as her private aide.

The statement states that those writing to her would send files directly to the warden, who would provide them to the inmate, who would review and edit them and provide them back to the warden to digitize and send to the original sender.

Additional Privileges Alleged

Other privileges reportedly provided to her include opportunities to interact with a trainee assistance dog – a perk typically prohibited – as well as private after-hours access to the prison exercise area.

Her legal counsel did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the insider's allegations.

In a statement, the presidential office said that it “does not comment” on possible pardon appeals.

“Per the President's remarks, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the representative noted.

Recent Background

Recently, reports surfaced that she told friends and family in electronic messages that she was “much happier” at the Texas facility than her former location.

In August, Maxwell was moved from a secure facility in Tallahassee, Florida to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most detainees are serving time for financial and non-violent crimes.

The transfer, which experts described as “unprecedented”, occurred just days after she was interviewed about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the deputy attorney general, the official, who also previously served as the President's private attorney.

That interview came as the administration was facing increasing scrutiny to disclose additional files related to the ongoing probe and amid widespread conjecture around the President's own personal ties to the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender, who was found deceased in custody in that year while awaiting prosecution on sex-trafficking charges.

Lawmaker Reactions

Through the statement, the congressman also revealed that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, demanding answers about the whistleblower’s allegations, and urged the chief executive to reject Maxwell’s commutation request.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any form of clemency to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” the representative stated in the letter. “The government must not offer her with personal amenities, with canine interaction, with government agents attending to her requests, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

Raskin requested that Blanche attend a open legislative session to address the disclosures and also presented several inquiries to Trump.

He inquired whether he had discussed a possible clemency for the convict with the official or others, whether he had instructed him or anyone else to provide her with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in detention, and whether Maxwell, her attorneys, family or agents have made any commitments to the President or his attorneys.

Raskin has asked for a response to the inquiries by the specified date.

Last month, the US supreme court declined to hear an petition from Maxwell on her trafficking verdict.
